Suspects Confess To Killing Nursing Student
Two individuals apprehended for the murder of a female student from the College of Nursing Sciences Umulogho in the Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State have allegedly confessed to the crime.
The suspects, Onyema Okonkwo, a 31-year-old vulcanizer, and Emmanuel Onyekachi, aged 25, are accused of killing 21-year-old Miss Wenda Achumba, a Post-Basic Nursing student, following a sexual assault.
The motive for the murder was reportedly their fear of being identified by her, which could lead to their arrest.
According to reports, the vulcanizer confessed to striking the student nurse with a stick, while Emmanuel allegedly slit her throat with a knife.
The arrests were carried out by the community’s vigilance group, led by an individual named Iweajunwa, who subsequently handed the suspects over to the police.
The police authorities have indicated that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and comprehensive investigation. They will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of these investigations.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has assured the public that the case is being managed with the utmost diligence and professionalism, emphasizing that all individuals found culpable will face the full extent of the law.
