NBA Human Rights Law Clinic Resumes Sitting
The Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Owerri Branch, has officially announced the resumption of its Human Rights Law Clinic, effective Monday, July 27, 2026.
In a statement signed by Dr. Ekezie K. Onumajulu, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee, the clinic will operate from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM every Monday.
Onumajulu indicated that during these sessions, the Committee will receive, review, and take appropriate action on complaints that warrant legal intervention.
The Committee’s primary mandate is to promote, protect, and defend fundamental rights.
The Law Clinic serves as a platform for both members of the Bar and the public to seek institutional support regarding issues such as human rights violations, unlawful detention, abuse of power, and other forms of injustice.
To enhance accessibility and encourage public participation, the Committee has reintroduced its Human Rights Complaints/Petitions Boxes.
These boxes have been placed at the NBA Owerri Bar Centre and Ozisa FM, located at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.
Onumajulu urged members of the public and legal practitioners to submit complaints through these channels for appropriate attention.
Furthermore, members of the Bar who are interested in volunteering their time and expertise to advance this important cause are warmly invited to collaborate with the Committee.
