Police Nab Two For Alleged Sale Of Pyrotechnics
The Imo State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Opara Evans, aged 35, and Chinedu Stanley, aged 29, for the illegal possession and distribution of prohibited fireworks and explosives.
This arrest was the result of a surveillance operation conducted in the vicinity of Alaba and Relief Markets in Owerri, where substantial quantities of the prohibited items were confiscated.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesperson, made this announcement in a statement on Wednesday, December 3.
DSP Okoye reiterated the comprehensive ban on the use, sale, distribution, and possession of all types of fireworks, knockouts, bangers, and other explosive devices throughout Imo State.
He further stated that anyone found in violation of this directive will face arrest and subsequent prosecution.
He advised residents, parents, and traders to refrain from engaging with these banned items and encouraged them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The Command’s spokesperson reaffirmed the police’s steadfast commitment to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and joyous festive season for all residents of Imo State, and urged them to celebrate responsibly.
