MOUAU VC Commits To Providing Conducive Hostels For Students
The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Professor Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, has reiterated her dedication to ensuring that students have access to a healthy and conducive living environment, emphasizing the significant impact of their surroundings on creativity, character development, and academic achievement.
Professor Akanwa made these remarks during her inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of the University’s student hostels.
She explained that this initiative stems from her commitment to providing students with adequate accommodation, thereby preparing them for a successful future.
She reflected on the previously poor conditions of certain hostels prior to the intervention and underscored the necessity of establishing a better living environment for future generations.
The Vice-Chancellor urged students to adhere to hostel rules and regulations to safeguard and maintain the renovated facilities.
She instructed hostel porters to perform routine inspections and ensure weekly sanitation, cautioning that students who damage University property would incur surcharges, while repeat offenders may be required to vacate the hostels.
She emphasized that the upkeep of these facilities necessitates cooperation between students and hostel management, adding that the University’s investment in enhanced accommodation underscores her commitment to student welfare and a brighter future for society.
