College Appeals To Imo Govt To Domesticate Act

The College of Education Academic Staff Union, COAESU, Benjamin Uwajumogu College of Education Ihitte Uboma, chapter has appealed to the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to expedite the domestication of the College of Education Act 2023 in the state.
COEASU made the appeal in a statement signed by its Chairman, Wilson Amandi.
The Act, also known as the Dual Mandate, grants public colleges of education the autonomy to award degrees and National Certificate of Education concurrently.
The Act was signed by President Bola Tinubu two years ago.
COEASU stated, “We require this Act to commence degree programmes, enhance research and development, and provide the public with training opportunities that meet 21st-century teaching demands.”
The union expressed its gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for entrusting the college with training over 6,000 potential teachers for the state.
Benjamin Uwajumogu College of Education Ihitte Uboma is the only college of education owned by the Imo State Government and has been involved in teacher education nationwide over the years.
