Imo Govt To Shut Down Illegal Private Schools
The hammer will soon fall on illegal private nursery, primary and secondary schools operating in Imo State, according to the state Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. B. T. O Ikeagwuoha, the Ministry disclosed that the shut down will also affect schools operating with expired approval letters.
The Ministry added that proprietors of schools which were closed down due to some issues but had since reopened on their own accord will be arrested and persecuted.
The statement reads; “This is to inform all Private Proprietors of Schools (nursery,primary & secondary),that monitoring of Schools and closure of illegal Private Schools and Schools operating with expired approval letters will soon commence effectively across the State.
“Proprietors of Private schools whose Schools have been closed down due to one issue or the other including illegal schools marked closed down with red & have been cleaned off & reopened without regularization in an unauthorized manner will be arrested by police.
“Ministry of Education, Primary & Secondary will not be liable nor held responsible for any fall-out arising from the arrest thereof. To be forewarned is to be for armed. This is the final warning!”
