Police Beef Up Security After Nnamdi Kanu’s Court Conviction
The police in Imo State have enhanced security measures following the court conviction of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), on terrorism charges.
Security patrols have been intensified across the three geopolitical zones of Orlu, Okigwe, and Owerri.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the police in the state, stated that these actions aim to prevent any disruption of law and order by individuals with criminal intentions and to ensure the safety of all residents.
DSP Okoye further explained that the patrols are conducted in collaboration with other security agencies.
He also disclosed that intelligence-led raids have been carried out on suspected criminal hideouts, with a show of force deployed across the state to deter criminal activities, while reassuring the public of the Command’s readiness to maintain peace.
He remarked, “Personnel have been strategically positioned to safeguard critical government facilities and public infrastructure, while ensuring that law-abiding residents can carry out their daily activities without hindrance. The Command warns that any individual found engaging in activities capable of disrupting public peace will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.”
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reassured residents of the Command’s steadfast commitment, in partnership with other security agencies, to protect lives and property and maintain peace throughout the state.
