Police Deny Influx Of Bandits In Imo

The Imo State Police Command has refuted reports suggesting an influx of bandits within Imo State.

A video currently circulating online depicts a large group of motorcyclists, purportedly indicating that bandits have infiltrated the state.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Henry Okoye, the public is urged to disregard the implications of the video.

DSP Okoye clarified that the video has been maliciously taken out of context and encouraged individuals to refrain from sharing it further.

The statement reads: “The Imo State Police Command wishes to address a misleading viral video presently circulating on social media. The footage portrays several individuals riding motorcycles in Imo State, accompanied by false claims suggesting their involvement as bandits.

“The Command urges the public to dismiss the circulating video, as it is the result of mischief-makers attempting to distort facts and incite unnecessary panic. The incident occurred along Poly Road, Nekede, where security operatives were deployed to clear an illegal motorcycle park.

“The video has been maliciously taken out of context and is being shared to incite fear and tension among residents.

“We strongly advise members of the public to refrain from sharing or amplifying such misleading content, as its sole purpose is to sow apprehension and destabilize the peace of the state.

“The Imo State Police Command assures all residents that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to prevent any form of bandit attack or security breach. The safety and security of Imo residents remain our top priority.”
