Seplat Energy Unveils Four-Year Development Plan For Imo Community
Oil giant, Seplat Energy Company has unveiled a four year development plan for its host community of Umuokanne in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
Unveiling the plan on Thursday October 9, 2025 at a meeting with the stakeholders, the Community Relations Officer of the company Dr Ray Eze said the company was poised to implement the results of the needs assessment recently carried out in the community.
Eze who handed over the document on the development plan to the Traditional Ruler of the community requested for support for the implementation of the development plan.
He stated that the purpose of their visit was to inform the community that Seplat Energy is ready to implement the results of the needs assessment, which has been compiled into a single document known as the Umuokanne Development Plan.
He also disclosed that Seplat Energy would soon request the Traditional Ruler to nominate two persons from Umuokanne to serve on the Management and Advisory Board of the Host Community Development Trust Fund.
Eze emphasized that only registered indigenous contractors with a CAC certificate from Umuokanne would be eligible to execute projects selected by the community.
In response, the Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze M. C. Nwokoma, Okaa Omee IV thanked Seplat Energy for their love and commitment to the community, noting that the company has again demonstrated its management and indigenous acumen as one of the best oil companies in the land.
He expressed optimism that Umuokanne would soon benefit from the 3% Petroleum Industry Act and assured the company of the community’s support in implementing the Community Development Plan.
The meeting was attended by the President-General, Youth President, Zonal Chiefs, stakeholders, and prominent sons of Umuokanne.
