Groups Express Support For Ada Owere’s House of Representatives Bid
Two organizations, the Yoruba Campaign Council and the Imo Youth Ambassadors Nationwide, have formally expressed their support for the candidacy of Her Excellency Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is seeking to represent the Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu is contesting in the forthcoming House of Representatives election under the Labour Party (LP).
The endorsement from both groups was announced during separate solidarity visits to her office in Owerri, the capital of Imo State on Saturday.
In a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, representatives from the Yoruba Campaign Council, a subgroup of the Yoruba Community in Igboland, declared their unwavering support, emphasizing their commitment to work diligently towards her success as the representative of the Owerri Federal Constituency.
Members of the council reminisced and shared fond memories of her late husband, former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, affectionately referred to as Aketi.
They praised Aketi’s courage, compassion, sincerity, and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of his people.
They recalled his bold leadership in establishing the Amotekun Security Network to safeguard communities from banditry and criminal activities. According to them, Aketi was a leader who genuinely loved his people and governed with conviction.
The delegation expressed confidence that Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu would uphold these same values of service, integrity, and dedication in representing the people of the Owerri Federal Constituency. They also requested that she remember their support when elected to the Green Chamber.
In response, Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu assured them that her representation would be inclusive, people-focused, and development-oriented.
Similarly, the Imo Youth Ambassadors Nationwide also pledged their unwavering support for Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s aspiration to represent the Owerri Federal Constituency.
A highlight of the group’s visit was the presentation of the Renowned Philanthropist award to the Labour Party candidate.
The group’s president, Ezinwa Ebuzoama Chibuike, stated that she is deserving of the award due to her contributions to youth development, digital transformation, innovation, and humanitarian service.
Upon receiving the award, Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu expressed her deep appreciation for the thoughtful gesture, finding it both humbling and inspiring that a group of young individuals took the time to examine her record of service and chose to honor her based on verifiable evidence of impact.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu established the Bemore Summer Boot Camp in 2017 to train secondary school girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), solar technology, and other life-enhancing skills necessary for success in today’s digital economy. Over the years, more than 3,000 girls have benefitted from the program, including over 200 girls from Imo State.
