PDP Urged Members To Disregard Dissolution Of Imo Structure

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to its numerous members, supporters, and stakeholders to dismiss reports suggesting the dissolution of its structure in Imo State.

The party characterized these reports as fanciful notions existing solely within the imaginations of their originators.

A statement issued by the party and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Lancelot Obiaku, also denounced what it referred to as a disgraceful occurrence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The PDP recently conducted its national convention, during which it expelled the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.

The Imo PDP rejected the expulsion, labeling it as illegal, reckless, abusive, and contemptuous.

The party reminded its members that the PDP has yet to organize its National Convention to elect new national officers and stated that any contrary reports circulating in the media are mere propaganda and fictional accounts that do not accurately reflect the current situation.

The statement further elaborated: “In essence, the events of November 15th and 16th amounted to nothing more than a gathering of a lawless Committee of Friends for a tea party, which attempted an absurd overreach that ultimately ended in futility.

“The organizers of this meeting, in their desperation, violated the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, and the constitution of the country with an illusory convention that included suspended and expelled members as part of the organizers, without delegates from Ebonyi, Anambra, and Enugu States, among others, which currently lack valid State Executive Committees.

“Furthermore, they disregarded binding and existing judgments from the Federal High Court in Abuja, delivered by Honorable Justice James Omotosho on October 31, 2025, and Honorable Justice Peter Odo Lifu on November 14, 2025. These judgments, due to evident abuses of process, constitutional violations, and other irregularities, including the usurpation of the powers and functions of the National Secretary and National Organizing Secretary, ordered the cessation of any convention until the party adheres to its constitution and guidelines.”
