2027: Group Insists On Okigwe Zone Serving Out Truncated Term
The Owerri Zone Progressive Forum, OZOPROF, has reiterated its stance of allowing Okigwe Zone to serve out its truncated term on the Imo State governorship seat.
According to the group, supporting Okigwe Zone to produce the next governor, whose tenure concludes in 2031, would pave the way for Owerri Zone to assume leadership.
In a statement released to National Newsbreak, OZOPROF countered critics, stating that its position has not undermined the efforts of groups advocating for an Owerri Zone governor in 2027.
Instead, OZOPROF accused the groups of pursuing self-serving agendas of their arrowheads.
It condemned the ‘entitlement mentality’ of leaders of the groups, saying that the way they are going about their advocacy was capable of scuttling the quest of Owerri Zone to produce the governor of the state.
It reminded the groups of the warnings of the incumbent governor Senator Hope Uzodimma who has repeatedly and pointedly told Owerri Zone that the governorship seat of the state is not a turn-by-turn affair.
OZOPROF maintained that Okigwe Zone cannot be shoved aside or treated disdainfully in the manner the promoters of the groups are doing at the moment.
