CP Advocates Disrupting Supply Chain To Combat Drug Abuse
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has underscored the importance of disrupting the supply chain as a crucial measure for reducing the availability and misuse of illicit drugs in the country.
This statement was made on Thursday, June 18, 2026, during a courtesy visit by Okeinya Helen, the Coordinator of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Imo State.
Commissioner Bosso advocated for increased attention on those involved in the distribution, supply, and sales of hard drugs and other illicit substances, rather than solely focusing on the end users.
He further elaborated that the proliferation of illicit drugs poses significant health risks and often serves as a catalyst for criminal activities such as violence, cultism, theft, and other offences.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to collaborating with NAFDAC and other pertinent stakeholders to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety in Imo State.
He emphasized the value of the Command’s synergy with NAFDAC in addressing activities that threaten public health, safety, and economic well-being, and assured the delegation of the Command’s continued support and dedication to sustaining effective collaboration between both agencies.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of NAFDAC highlighted the agency’s mandate to safeguard public health through the regulation and control of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals, and packaged water.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the existing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and NAFDAC in combating counterfeit, substandard, and illicit products.
