Peter Obi Won’t Steal Nigeria’s Money, Galadinma Assures

Chief Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, will not misappropriate the nation’s resources.

Galadima’s assertion is based on the belief that an individual who has successfully overcome the inherent and destructive human inclination towards greed would not engage in corrupt practices.

He highlighted several lucrative benefits that Mr. Obi declined in the past, as well as the substantial savings he left for his successor in Anambra State, arguing that such actions reflect a person who has transcended ordinary motivations.

Galadima questioned the very humanity of the former governor of Anambra State, suggesting that if Mr. Obi is indeed verified as human, it would be difficult to reconcile his actions with the typical behaviour of Nigerian politicians.

The NDC chietain stated, “I do not believe Peter Obi is a genuine human being; however, if it is confirmed that he is, then he certainly does not embody the characteristics of a typical Nigerian,”.

He further remarked, “His father has questions to answer regarding the following points:

1. Peter Obi declined a monthly pension of ₦700 million as a former governor.
2. Peter Obi rejected land allocations provided to former governors as part of their entitlements.
3. Peter Obi turned down ₦500 million for housing and furniture allowance as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Abuja in 2015.
4. Peter Obi refused a prize of $1 million for being the first and best governor to achieve the 2020 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
5. Peter Obi declined the offer of an oil well, a common incentive for politicians seeking power in Abuja.
6. Peter Obi rejected the allocation of millions of naira for establishing the office of the First Lady, asserting that his wife was not an elected official.
7. Peter Obi opposed the proposal to distribute the state’s annual budget as a percentage with the State House of Assembly, which led to his initial unlawful impeachment.
8. Peter Obi handed over approximately ₦75 billion in cash and assets after eight years as governor, refusing to convert these resources for personal use, as many of his counterparts did.

“This individual has triumphed over the most fundamental, intense, and destructive human desire—greed.

“I challenge anyone to disprove any of these statements.

“Peter Obi is the man.

“He will not steal the nation’s commonwealth.”
