Court Dismisses Uzodimma As APC Imo West Senatorial Candidate
On Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to cease presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
The ruling was made after Justice Egwuatu determined that Uzodimma did not secure victory in the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In delivering the judgment, the Judge stated that the evidence submitted to the court demonstrated that former governor Rochas Okorocha received the majority of votes cast during the primary and should be recognized as the rightful winner of the election.
Consequently, Justice Egwuatu directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name as the party’s candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
