Chima Amadi Not Leaving APP, Still Running For Governor -Spokesman

By: Gele Agbai

The Action People’s Party (APP) has affirmed that its prominent member, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, has no intention of leaving the party for any other affiliation.

The party further stated that Dr. Amadi remains committed to his candidacy for the governorship of Imo State in 2027.

The party’s spokesperson in the state, Cajetan Duke, provided these clarifications in a statement released to National Newsbreak on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Duke refuted as ‘reckless and patently false’ a report from an Owerri-based newspaper (not National Newsbreak), which suggested that Dr. Amadi might abandon the governorship race to instead compete for the Imo East Senatorial District seat.

Duke further described the report as entirely fabricated, maliciously conceived, and mischievously disseminated by individuals and groups unsettled by the unprecedented support Dr. Amadi is receiving.

He noted that certain desperate opponents are alarmed by the unstoppable momentum Dr. Amadi’s campaign has garnered.

Duke asserted that Dr. Amadi’s determination to contest for the governorship position under the APP banner remains unwavering and irreversible.

He remarked that Imo State continues to suffer under failed leadership characterized by widespread corruption.

Duke stated that Dr. Amadi is committed to ending the maladministration and ushering in transparent, accountable, and genuinely people-oriented governance that prioritizes the welfare of the citizens.
