Abia Is Witnessing Benefits of Democracy Under Otti -Akeredolu

Abia State Government under the leadership of Dr Alex Otti has been lauded for providing “tangible dividends” of democracy to the citizens of the state.

Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the former First Lady of Ondo State, expressed her commendation during the recently concluded national convention of the Labour Party.

Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is vying for the Imo East Senatorial District seat at the National Assembly under the Labour Party, emphasized the timeless adage that divine timing is indeed impeccable.

She reminisced about her late husband, Aketi Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, who advocated for Governor Otti in court following his gubernatorial contest in Abia State under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The Senatorial candidate observed that Governor Otti’s journey to the Government House in Umuahia was fraught with challenges, but expressed gratitude for the eventual favorable outcome.

Reflecting on the Labour Party National Convention, she shared her experiences, highlighting the warm reception she received, including a personal escort to a front-row seat by Governor Alex Otti and a memorable dinner at the Government House with esteemed guests.

This experience fostered a deep sense of belonging and affirmation, she said.

Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu noted her late husband’s role as Governor Otti’s legal representative during his prolonged legal battle to reclaim his rightful mandate under APGA.

Governor Otti’s path to leadership in Abia State was a testament to perseverance and resilience, and the current administration’s achievements are now evident to the people of Abia.

She pondered on when similar progress might be realized in her own state of Imo.

A notable aspect of the convention was the harmonious election of the party’s National Executives by consensus, with Senator Nenadi Usman assuming the role of National Chairman. This event underscored the unity and maturity within the party. Consistent with the convention’s theme, it is evident that the Labour Party is on an upward trajectory.
