Imo Police Command Impounds 25 Vehicles For Traffic Violations

The Imo State Police Command has impounded a minimum of 25 vehicles for operating with covered, obscured, or absent registration plates.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, made this announcement in a statement issued on Friday, July 3.

Okoye indicated that the owners of the confiscated vehicles are currently being profiled and will face prosecution regardless of their social status.

He emphasized that this initiative is not aimed at harassing law-abiding citizens or promoting extortion; rather, it seeks to improve vehicle identification and traceability, deter criminal activities, and bolster public confidence in the state’s security framework.

The spokesperson urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and that registration plates are clearly visible at all times.

Okoye further advised individuals whose registration plates are damaged, obscured, or missing to take immediate action to rectify these issues in accordance with the law.

He affirmed that the command remains dedicated to proactive policing and will continue to implement all lawful measures necessary to ensure the safety and security of the residents of Imo State.
