Police Hunt For Abductors Of Motorists In Imo
A joint security team has commenced a comprehensive search for the individuals responsible for the abduction of some motorists on Sunday December 7, 2025 in Imo State.
According to reports, an armed group fatally shot the driver of a Toyota Highlander Jeep with Registration Number SMK 514 BD and subsequently abducted the occupants of a Lexus RS300 with Registration Number FSD 334 CA in Amala Community, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, revealed in a statement that the command has initiated a thorough operation in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to apprehend the perpetrators of this attack.
Mr. Okoye stated that preliminary investigations indicated that at approximately 17:50 hours, armed individuals emerged from a bush path in Amala, shot the driver of the Toyota Highlander Jeep (SMK 514 BD), and abducted the occupants of the Lexus RS300 (FSD 334 XA).
He further informed that upon receiving the report, officers from the Ngor-Okpala Division promptly mobilized to the scene, secured the area, and transported the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
He added that the joint security operatives have commenced comprehensive bush-combing, search-and-rescue operations, and suspect-tracking within the Amala forest region and surrounding communities.
Mr. Okoye expressed confidence that the joint security team will successfully apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The Command assured residents that all necessary resources have been deployed to rescue the victim and prevent future incidents.

It is important to note that a viral video recently circulated, claiming that 14 passengers were kidnapped along the Imo Airport junction axis of the Owerri Aba expressway on December 2.
The Command promptly refuted this report, clarifying that the video pertained to a kidnapping incident that occurred in the same area in May of this year.
