Police Conduct Awareness Campaign Against Cultism In Imo
The Imo State Police Command carried out an awareness campaign against cultism on 19th December 2025, consisting of a 10-kilometre walk designed to educate the public on the dangers associated with cult-related activities, drug abuse, and other social vices.
The Command encouraged residents to avoid criminal activities and to foster a crime-free festive season.
This awareness campaign was conducted in collaboration with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).
The initiative involved over one hundred officers from the Imo State Police Command who traversed significant areas of the Owerri metropolis, engaging with residents and disseminating important messages regarding peace, lawfulness, responsible conduct, and community safety during the holiday season.
This undertaking is in alignment with the Inspector-General of Police’s strategic initiative to bolster peace and security through non-kinetic, community-based policing strategies that foster trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility between the Police and the public.
The Command reaffirmed its dedication to sustaining a safe and secure environment throughout the festive period and beyond through continuous sensitisation, prevention-focused policing, and active community involvement.
Residents of the state were further encouraged to remain law-abiding, to eschew criminal activities, and to support the Police in ensuring a peaceful and crime-free Christmas season.
