Imo Gov Suspends Operations Of Environmental Sanitation Agency
The Government of Imo State has announced the immediate suspension of the operations of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO).
This decision was made by Governor Hope Uzodimma on Monday, November 10, 2025, following a reported incident in Owerri attributed to ENTRACO’s activities.
The incident in question resulted in the death of one individual, while another remains in critical condition in the hospital.
Governor Uzodimma expressed his awareness of other concerning incidents that have raised public doubts regarding the operational methods of ENTRACO.
However, the Governor emphasized that the suspension of ENTRACO’s operations should not be misconstrued as permission for the public to disregard traffic, environmental, and other pertinent laws, cautioning that violators will face severe consequences.
It is important to remember that just two weeks prior, a life was lost during a confrontation between ENTRACO officers and traders at the Toronto Junction Market in Uratta.
Reports indicate that operatives of the environmental sanitation agency allegedly looted shops belonging to market traders.
