Police Arrest Five Suspects For Allegedly Brutalizing Imo Woman
The X-Squad Unit of the Imo State Police Command has apprehended five individuals suspected of assaulting a woman, Mrs. Agu Ndidiamaka, in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
A viral video recently circulated on social media depicting six men allegedly assaulting Mrs. Agu for purportedly cooperating with the police during a recent investigative visit to the community.
Upon being informed of the video, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, promptly ordered an investigation and the arrest of the individuals involved in the assault.
According to the Command’s spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP Henry Okoye, the operatives of the X-Squad Unit took swift action and arrested the five suspects.
DSP Okoye identified the suspects linked to the assault as Onyekachi Njoku, 40 years old; Chiazor Osuji, 45 years old; Chukwuma Iwuala, 46 years old; Eugene Njoku; and Njoku Emmanuel, 35 years old.
All the suspects are from Uboegbelu in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA.
DSP Okoye further revealed that the five suspects have provided confessional statements, acknowledging their involvement in the attack.
He also informed that the sixth suspect, Onyedikachi Njoku, remains at large, and efforts to apprehend him are being intensified.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has condemned the assault entirely and reaffirmed that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the police will not be tolerated.
The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court shortly with the appropriate criminal charges, the Command’s spokesman concluded
