Parents Express Outrage Over Conduct Of Common Entrance, FSLC In Imo

Parents and guardians have criticized the Imo State Ministry of Education regarding the inadequate administration of the Common Entrance and First School Certificate (FSLC) examinations held on Friday.

They questioned the decision to schedule both examinations on the same day, which resulted in the late arrival of invigilators at examination centers throughout the state, causing pupils to remain in the examination hall until as late as 9:00 PM.

Our correspondent, who visited two centers in Ikenegbu and Orji, reported that invigilators arrived as late as 4:00 PM for examinations that were scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM.

Additionally, there was a shortage of examination papers, prompting parents and guardians to photocopy the materials to ensure their children had their own copies.

Frustrated parents and guardians expressed their disbelief at the apparent incompetence of the state Ministry of Education, which failed to provide sufficient examination papers for the students.

They also criticized ministry officials for subjecting students to the distressing experience of remaining in school for extended hours without access to food.

Some parents voiced their indignation over the ordeal their children faced for examinations that hold minimal significance in their academic development and future opportunities.

As of the time of publication, neither the ministry nor the state government had provided any statements or responses regarding the deficiencies observed in the administration of the examinations.
