Nigeria Advance To Semi Final, Beat Algeria

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Nigeria’s Super Eagles triumphed over Algeria with a score of 2-0, securing their place in the semi-final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations competition holding in Morocco.

The Nigerian team clearly dominated the Algerians in all aspects of the game. Although their potential first goal in the first half was disallowed despite the ball crossing the Algerian goal line, the first half concluded without any goals.

However, just seven minutes into the second half, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen executed a remarkable combination to score the first goal of the match.

Lookman swiftly maneuvered past the Algerian players and delivered a volley, which Osimhen headed into the net, leaving Algeria’s goalkeeper and defense team in disbelief.

At the 67th minute, Osimhen outpaced an Algerian defender but encountered a block by another player, prompting him to pass to Adams Akor.

Akor adeptly dribbled past the advancing Algerian goalkeeper and delivered a low-level shot into the net.

Akor nearly added a third goal for Nigeria, but his low-level header struck the post and bounced out of play.

With this victory, Nigeria has secured a place in the semi-final, where they will face the host country, Morocco.
