Imo ADC Deputy Publicity Secretary Slumps, Dies
Tragedy struck Imo State on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, when the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Imo State, Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, reportedly slumped and died.
The sudden demise caused pandemonium in his family, party, and community in Ideato South Local Government Area of the state.
The Publicity Secretary of the ADC in the state, Chief MacDonald Amadi, confirmed the death of the deputy publicity secretary in a statement.
Amadi described Asuzu as a man of uncommon intellect, conviction, and service.
The statement reads: “With deep shock and sorrow, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State Chapter, announces the sudden death of Hon (Chief) Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, the deputy publicity secretary of Imo ADC, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
“Asuzu, a proud son of Ideato South LGA in Imo State, was a man of uncommon intellect, conviction, and service. A theologian, political scientist, entrepreneur, cultural enthusiast, and community leader, he brought immense depth to every role he undertook.
“He held degrees in Theology and Political Science and was, until his passing, pursuing a doctorate degree that combined his intellectual rigour with practical leadership.
“He was the convener of Ikoro Ndigbo, an Igbo sociocultural and political thought movement, and Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, platforms committed to cultural renewal and intellectual engagement.
“He was also the Founder and National Leader of the coalition support group I Stand With ADC, a grassroots-driven movement dedicated to advancing democratic participation and progressive ideals across Nigeria.
“A former PDP chieftain, prolific writer, and author of several works, he distinguished himself as a visiting lecturer, grassroots mobilization builder, and public affairs analyst. Beyond his public commitments, he was a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many, inspiring across both the sacred and secular spheres.
“His passing is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society.”
