Ikeoha Distributes Foodstuffs To Orji Women

Twenty women from six villages within the Orji Community, in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State over the weekend were recipients of the annual distribution of foodstuffs and essential items.

This initiative is sponsored by a distinguished indigene of the community, Chief Amanze Chidinma Paschal Njoku.

The women returned home with a variety of foodstuffs, including yam tubers, fired cassava flour (garri), rice, fish and laundry soaps.

In high spirits, the women expressed their profound gratitude through dance and prayers, wishing for continued blessings upon the benefactor’s resources to ensure ongoing support.

Their joy was further enhanced when Chief Njoku provided stipends for their transportation back home.

During the handover ceremony at his residence in Orji, Chief Amanze CP Njoku attributed his philanthropic actions to divine guidance.

Chief Njoku who holds the traditional titles of Ikeoha Orji and Anya Mpere Mba of Owerri, explained that his life’s philosophy compels him to share the blessings bestowed upon him with his community.

The Administrator of the Nfunala Development Union (formerly Orji Aborigines Initiative) emphasized his commitment to sharing what he possesses with others.

The Dean of the Deanery remarked, “We must build our strength and support the community’s growth. Remember others when you have enough. My actions are not driven by wealth, but by the ability to contribute. Ultimately, we will all depart from this world, leaving behind our possessions and descendants. Therefore, there is little purpose in excessive accumulation.”

The beneficiaries comprised married women from six villages in the Orji Community, and even strangers who arrived were accommodated.

In her remarks, Dr. Ngozi Amanze Njoku, wife of Chief Njoku and a lecturer at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri, expressed her support for her husband’s philanthropic endeavours.

She described him as a generous individual who consistently seeks ways to positively impact the lives of others.

Some beneficiaries namely, Mrs. Ugochi Ohale, Mrs. Faith Ejim, Mrs. Ethel Azuoma and Mrs. Anozie Rose expressed their gratitude to Chief Njoku, praying for his longevity and protection for his family.

They recalled previous acts of kindness from Chief Njoku, expressing happiness at his benevolence and care for the women of Orji.

It is important to note that last Saturday marked the third consecutive year in which Chief Njoku has been distributing foodstuffs and other essential items to families within the community.
