Abia Community Sacks Sit-Tight Executive, Elects Interim Govt
The Amaba Autonomous Community in the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State has elected an interim executive to oversee the affairs of its Aba Branch.
The interim leadership comprises Christopher Igboko Okoroafor as Chairman; Comrade Collins Uche Chijioke as Secretary; and Mr. Ogwo Aja Chinasa, Pastor Ogbonnaya Dike, Mr. Uche Ogwo Uche, Pastor Maduka Kalu Aka, and Mr. Awa Okorie as members.
The interim government was established during a meeting held in Aba on November 24, 2025.
The National Adhoc Committee of the community convened the meeting to address the crisis rocking the Aba Branch, which stemmed from the executive’s refusal to relinquish office despite the expiration of their tenure.
The interim government was tasked with organizing an election to appoint a new executive for the branch soonest.
The National Adhoc Committee imposed suspension, restriction and a fine of N100,000 on any member who opposes or attempts to disrupt the functioning of the interim administration.
In addition, such a suspended member must provide four cartons of beer, four crates of Maltina, four bottles of original hot drink, four bottles of Eva wine, four lobes of oji Igbo, assorted kolanuts, and 40 liters of palm wine before being readmitted.
Equally, any member who associates with such a suspended individual during his suspension will incur a fine of N50,000.
