CWO Holy Cross Catholic Parish Aladinma Celebrates Mothers’ Day
The Catholic Women Organization, CWO, Holy Cross Parish, Aladimma, Owerri, celebrated this year’s Mothers Day in a most colourful funfilled atmosphere replete with glamour, frills and grills.
Starting off the event on the eve of celebration (Saturday, April 18, 2026), the CWO members of Holy Cross, Aladimma, Owerri, lit up the church ground with exciting and impressive activities.
There were march past among CWO members from the five zones that make up the parish. The march past which was observed in a form of parade was not just beautiful and alluring but also absolutely sensational.
It was witnessed by the auxillary bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese Owerri, His Lordship, Most Rev Moses Chikwe, the Imo State commissioner for Lands and Survey, Chief Enyinnaya Onuegbu, the 2026 Mothers Day organizing committe chairperson, Dr Dorathy Nnaji, the CWO President,Holy Cross Parish Hon Chief (Mrs) Getrude K.C Iroeme, the parish administrator Rev Fr, Emma Nwaozuzu, his assistant, Rev Fr Anthony Iwueze and the parish pastorial council chairman, Dr Anthony Megwas, and the Chairman of the occasion Prof G.C Agu.
Others included Hon Chief Magnus Ihekoronye, and Elder Chima Anyanwu, chancellor, Holy Cross.
The highlight of the day was the unveilling of the 2026 Mothers Day Cake which was done in honour of Blessed Mother Mary. Also, the launch and sale of the CWO calender was successfully carried out.
On Sunday, April 19, the CWO members, in their well tailored but simple dress code conducted the Mothers Day proper with the auxillary bishop as the chief mass celebrant.
The women, beautifully and orderly lined up for offertory procession and was effectively done with all the women in their national uniform, led by Dr Mrs Dorothy Nnaji and Hon Chief Mrs Getrude K.C Iroeme, dancing to the glory of God.
In his sermon, Bishop Chikwe admonished the CWO members to always remain faithful to the call of motherhood irrespective of the cultural, political, economic and social challenges.
He urged them to always emulate the footsteps of the Blessed Virgirn Mary who is a model for motherhood.
The CWO chairperson of Holy Parish Aladimma, Hon Iroeme thanked the women for their support and identification. In her presentation, the chairperson of the 2026 Mothers Day celebration Dr Nnaji, eulogized the women for their wonderful performances in their respective families and the soceity at large.
The hallmark of the occasion was the award on distinguished members of the society, including High Chief Okey Amadi.
