Imo Residents Spurn Police To Welcome 2026 With Pyrotechnics
Residents of Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, disregarded the police’s reminder of the ban on pyrotechnics and proceeded to ignite fireworks continuously to usher in the New Year, 2026.
At precisely midnight, a variety of fireworks filled the air, marking the jubilant transition from 2025 to 2026.
The fireworks emitted a range of sounds, with some resembling gunfire and others akin to the sound of cascading rain from the heavens.
It was evident that the residents were in a celebratory mood. For many, the act of transitioning into the New Year, despite the challenging economic circumstances they faced, was considered a notable accomplishment.
Some individuals rejoiced in the achievements they accomplished over the past year, while others celebrated in anticipation of future progress.
Meanwhile, some chose to journey to their ancestral homes to welcome the New Year.
For this group, the act of ushering in the New Year was deemed more meaningful when conducted in the countryside, where their familial roots are deeply embedded.
Religious worship centers were filled to capacity with congregants who participated in their crossover or 31st Night services.
During the 31st Night Service, the President of Loveworld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, Rev Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, stated that the activities of the deep states remain suspended.
He advised individuals against using toothpaste containing fluoride, attributing the substance to the increasing incidence of cancer affecting people today.
Rev Dr. Oyakhilome subsequently proclaimed the year 2026 as the ‘Year of Manifestation.’
Furthermore, he encouraged the attendees to seek out unbelievers in their vicinity and guide them towards accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts.
