My Days In PDP Are Numbered, Says Rep
House of Representatives member, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has declared that his days in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are numbered.
Ugochinyere, representing Ideato Federal Constituency, Imo State, spoke in his country home, Akokwa, on Friday when his constituents trooped to his house on a solidarity visit.
The lawmaker said all efforts to rescue PDP failed, blaming the woes of the party on the Umar Damagum led National Working Committee (NWC).
Though a large number of his supporters bore insignias of the Action People’s Party (APP), Ugochinyere stated that he will be making a declaration of his new party soonest.
The legislator recalled how he was disqualified few days to PDP’s primary in the build-up to the 2023 general elections and how members of the party testified against him in the courts.
“It’s time to severe relationship with PDP, unless something magical happens, if not, in the next few days, we will be packing our bags to say bye bye to PDP”, he submitted.
Ugochinyere alleged that his billboards which were approved for erection had all been pulled down in Ideato South after the attempt to stop a reception in his honour failed.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the Imo situation by calling to order those involved in what he described as attempt to stifle democracy in the state.
“After the forceful take over of the venue of the reception, while we neutralised their offensive, we had our paid billboards for season’s greetings. But yesterday night, they went round Ideato South with officers they brought from Owerri bringing down the billboards.
“I’m in the heart of my people, the more you cut down billboards, the more the people serve you a lethal electoral blow”, Ugochinyere maintained.
The lawmaker said communities in the constituency yet to get borehole, solar lights, schools and hall projects will get it before next year.
