Uzodimma Submits N1.4Trillion Budget Proposal To Imo Assembly

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has formally submitted a budget proposal exceeding N1.4 trillion for the fiscal year 2026 to the state legislature.
The governor has designated this financial plan as the Budget of Economic Breakthrough, designed to facilitate significant advancements through initiatives such as the Imo Light Up project, the operational Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, and the digitalization of Imo’s economy.
During the presentation of the budget on Monday, December 22, 2026, Governor Uzodimma emphasized anticipated major advancements across various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, and other areas of the state’s economy.
The proposed budget allocates N238,499,999,653 to recurrent expenditure, constituting 16.6 percent of the total, while capital expenditure is allocated N1,201,073,590,752.04, representing 83.4 percent of the total budget estimates.
The 2026 budget proposal signifies a 78 percent increase from the 2025 budget, which amounted to N708 billion.
Governor Uzodimma, after detailing his extensive achievements in infrastructural and human capital development within the state, extended an invitation to the opposition to collaborate with him in elevating the state to greater heights, rather than expending their time and resources unproductively.
