Uzodimma Is Not Amaechi You Could Insult And Go Scot-free, Aide Warns Wike
An aide to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Sir Modestus Nwamkpa, has issued a formal warning to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to refrain from making disparaging remarks about his principal.
Nwamkpa emphasized that Governor Uzodimma does not resemble former Rivers State Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, nor the current Governor Siminalaya Fubara, whom Wike has previously criticized without consequence.
In a widely circulated video on social media, Nwamkpa, who is special assistant to Gov Uzodimma on print media stated, “Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, two days ago, we heard the insults you directed towards our Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
“I fail to comprehend why you choose to confront anyone. Hope Uzodimma is cherished by the people of Imo. Any insult directed at Uzodimma is an affront to the people of Imo. I advise you to exercise caution. Thank you.”
It is noteworthy that Wike proposed what he termed a Rainbow Coalition, which aims to support President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his bid for a second term while endorsing candidates from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the National Assembly, gubernatorial positions, and state assemblies.
Governor Uzodimma, while presenting a communiqué from the Progressive Governors’ Forum, distanced the APC from this Rainbow Coalition arrangement, which subsequently provoked a strong reaction from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). An agitated Wike remarked that democracy has evolved beyond the notion of “rising from a fourth position to become governor of a state,” directly targeting Governor Uzodimma, who is notably the only individual to have ascended from a fourth position to secure an electoral victory through judicial means.
