The Onion Newspaper Commemorates 6th Anniversary
The Management and Staff of Promotions-Onion Communication Limited, publishers of The Onion Newspaper, will celebrate the sixth anniversary of the publication on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The event is scheduled to take place at Rockview Hotel in Owerri, Imo State.
Dr. Basil Ekweke, the Editor of the newspaper, announced that the occasion will also serve to honor several eminent citizens.
The individuals to be recognized with awards include Hon. Amara Chyna Iwyanyanwu, Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly; Chinasa Nwaneri, Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance; and Chief Ruby Emele, Imo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Additionally, Autograph Construction Company Limited, Professor Stella Ngozi Lemchi, Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri; Nze Uzochukwu Elui, Chief Executive Officer of Old English Intercontinental Restaurant; and Chief Emma Ugorji, Managing Director of Festars Hotel in Ikenegbu Layout, Owerri, will also be honored.
Ekweke further revealed that the newspaper will launch the Chioma Bright Njoku Charity Foundation during the event.
The ceremony will be chaired by His Royal Highness Eze Oliver Ohanwe, traditional ruler of the Isiama Ancient Kingdom.
The Onion Newspaper commenced operations on June 20, 2020.
