Publisher Emerges New NFRA President

Honourable Kelechi Mejuobi, who serves as a co-publisher of Trumpeta Newspaper, has been appointed as the Acting National President of the Nigeria Football Referees Association (NFRA).

His appointment follows the unfortunate passing of Honourable Sani Zubairu, the former National President of the association.

Mejuobi, previously serving as the Deputy National President, assumed this role in accordance with the resolution of the National Executive Committee of the association, which was subsequently ratified by the General Congress on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

In his acceptance speech, Mejuobi expressed his gratitude to the association for the trust and confidence placed in him.

He committed to inclusively engaging all members to achieve the association’s objectives.

The Acting National President reaffirmed his dedication to continuing the reform initiatives of his predecessor, which are aimed at repositioning and reforming the association for enhanced efficiency and significance within Nigerian football.

He furthermore declared that all appointments established by his predecessor shall be upheld.
