Police Arrest 5 Suspects, Recover 450 Motorcycles
The Imo State Police Command has announced the apprehension of five individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities, including armed robbery, murder, and car theft.
Additionally, the command successfully recovered a shuttle bus and 450 stolen motorcycles, along with a sum of N6,495,900.
Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, made these disclosures during a press briefing and parade of criminal suspects held on Sunday in Owerri, the state capital.
CP Bosso further revealed that the suspects attempted to bribe officers of the command with the sum of N5 million, an offer that was firmly rejected.
Bosso provided details that one Chimezie Christian, a resident of Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area, reported on April 6, 2026, that the driver of his bus, Paul Ejike Ohaka, who left on April 5 with the bus bearing registration number KPU 26 XA, had failed to return.
According to the CP, operatives of the command promptly initiated action and discovered Ohaka abandoned and unconscious at Irete, while his bus had been forcibly taken by his assailants.
He further stated that Ohaka was swiftly transported to a hospital in New Owerri for medical treatment, and a coordinated investigation led operatives to a workshop in Orlu where the bus was about to undergo repainting.
He disclosed the arrest of two individuals, Olagoke Jelili and Godday Ezike.
Moreover, he mentioned the apprehension of two additional suspects, Okechukwu Prince and Raymond Odinaka, who admitted to acting under the instructions of one Osita Chigbo, who remains at large.
In addition, he noted the arrest of one Paul Martins Anya, a suspected receiver of stolen vehicles, while a search of his premises and subsequent operations resulted in the recovery of 450 motorcycles suspected to be stolen.
