The celebration commenced with a press conference on October 20 and will include special recognition for the club’s founders and other distinguished individuals, as well as a keynote inspirational address by technology expert Chief Leo-Stan Ekeh.
During a media briefing on Tuesday at the club house in Owerri, the club chairman, Ezinwa Onyebuchi Obinwa, praised the 14 civil servants who established the club in 1976, shortly after the formation of Imo State, for their visionary leadership.
He remarked that the club has evolved from modest beginnings into a premier institution for recreation, networking, brotherhood, and community service.
Obinwa described the past 50 years as a period marked by sacrifice, commitment, resilience, commendable community development, and unwavering service.
Discussing the theme of the celebration, “50 Years of Legacy: Honoring the Past, Building the Future,” the chairman announced that the club will honor those who contributed to its establishment over the next six weeks.
Additionally, Obinwa revealed that Chief Leo-Stan Ekeh will be awarded the Grand Patron title.
“This theme encapsulates our entire journey. Over the next six weeks, we will pay tribute to those who built this club and unveil our vision for the next 50 years,” he stated.
