Guber Hopeful, Orie Engages In Philanthropy Spree
Chief Charles Orie, a prospective gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming 2027 election in Imo State, has initiated a series of philanthropic activities aimed at supporting the indigent population.
Utilizing the festive season as an opportunity, he is providing assistance primarily to the underprivileged and needy members of society.
Chief Orie, who previously served as the Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), began his efforts with a visit to the Correctional Centre in Owerri.
During his visit, he distributed food items and facilitated the release of some inmates by paying their imposed fines.
Orie, who holds the traditional title of Akuatuegwu, subsequently visited the abodes of indigents in the Amakohia/Akwakuma and Emmanuel College Owerri areas, where he provided food and distributed gifts to them.
His philanthropic endeavors did not end there; he also extended his support to some convalescing patients in hospitals, covering their medical expenses and securing their discharge.
While addressing journalists at his country residence in Umuokanne, located within the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Chief Orie asserted that his philanthropic endeavors are devoid of political motivation.
He affirmed his long-standing dedication to charitable acts, emphasizing that the Christmas season represents an opportunity for him to extend kindness and bring joy to others.
He remarked, “This is a period dedicated to sharing. Whether I find myself in Imo, Lagos, or Abuja during this time, I consistently strive to assist those who are less fortunate. Today, I am also celebrating my birthday.”
