No Court Ordered My Arrest -Okorocha
Senator Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, has clarified that no court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
He provided this clarification in a statement signed by his media advisor, Sam Onwuemeodo.
Senator Okorocha challenged anyone in possession of such a warrant to make it public within 48 hours or retract their claim and issue a formal apology.
A post over the weekend by Hon. Declan Emelumba, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Strategy, and Public Orientation, on his verified Facebook page, reported that a senior magistrate court sitting in Abuja had issued a warrant of arrest against Okorocha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume for alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery.
Subsequently, other news outlets reported on the story.
Emelumba claimed that the warrant stemmed from a petition submitted by the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barr. Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, to the police and DSS, requesting that the security agencies investigate Okorocha and others for allegedly presenting fraudulent APC party primary results.
Senator Okorocha asserted that no warrant for his arrest exists and urged those responsible for disseminating the false information to provide evidence to the contrary.
The former governor highlighted discrepancies in the dates of the bench warrant and the petition by the REC, stating that such errors arise when individuals are focused on pursuing unfounded claims rather than substantive issues.
