Kefas Signs N143.4B Supplementary Budget Into Law

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has signed a ₦143.4 billion supplementary budget into law, bringing the total 2025 budget appropriation to ₦574.8 billion.
The supplementary appropriation bill, which was assented to on Friday, is aimed at addressing pressing funding requirements in key sectors such as security, infrastructure, and the economy, while also mitigating the effects of inflation and exchange rate fluctuations on ongoing projects.
Initially, the governor had presented a ₦429.8 billion budget estimate for the 2025 fiscal year in September 2024.
During the signing ceremony, Governor Kefas explained that the implementation of the supplementary budget would run until May 31, 2026, with 68.9% allocated to capital expenditure and 31.1% to recurrent spending.
The Taraba State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation had earlier emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and timely release of funds to achieve the intended objectives of the supplementary budget.
The committee noted that the additional funding would enable the state government to respond to emerging economic and security challenges and expedite key developmental projects.
