Kanu: OYC Requests Intervention From UK, US, Others
Kanu:
The governments of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Israel, Russia, and France have been requested to intervene in the matter concerning Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), with the aim of facilitating his release from detention.
This appeal was made by the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) in a statement signed by its President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.
The Council expressed regret over Kanu’s continued detention despite multiple court rulings granting him freedom.
The Council highlighted that Kanu’s ongoing incarceration constitutes a violation of his human rights, the rule of law, and international conventions to which Nigeria is a signatory.
Igboayaka informed these countries about a nationwide protest rally scheduled for Monday, October 20, to demand the release of the IPoB leader.
He urged these nations to dispatch observers to monitor the rally.
