A married woman, Mrs. Ramatu Abbas, from Donga Local Government Area in Taraba State, has allegedly attacked a 17-year-old girl, identified as Iwasen Terhemba, with a razor blade.
Sources informed our Correspondent that Mrs. Abbas accused the minor of having an affair with her husband.
According to local accounts, Mr. Abbas, the husband of the alleged attacker, had persistently pursued the teenager for a relationship.
However, the 17-year-old declined due to her age and his marital status.
Reports indicate that Mr. Abbas’s wife, Ramatu, became aware of these alleged advances and began issuing verbal threats toward the girl. Concerned for her safety, the teenager’s guardian, Jemila Savalla Wanga, reportedly approached Mrs. Abbas to explain that her husband had been persistently harassing the minor and urged her to admonish him.
Residents reported that Mrs. Abbas went to the girl’s residence and attacked her with a razor blade, resulting in injuries to her face.
They disclosed that the attacker allegedly warned the victim and her guardian against reporting the incident to the authorities, insisting that the matter should be “resolved privately.”
The incident, according to sources, has sparked outrage in the community, with residents demanding justice and protection for minors against abuse and violence.
When contacted, the police authority in the local government confirmed the incident and stated that the attacker has been charged in the magistrate court in Donga.
“Yes, we have received the case, and our investigation reveals that the young girl has no connection with Mr. Abbas. In fact, our findings showed that Mr. Abbas had attempted to assault her on a previous occasion, but she resisted.
“The young girl is innocent. We have charged the attacker, Mrs. Ramatu Abbas, to court. This matter will be prosecuted locally.
“The victim is currently receiving medical care at a nearby clinic,” confirmed the police.
