Court Stops Ekeocha, Onukogu From Parading Selves As Ezes-Elect
An Imo State High Court sitting in Uratta Owerri North Division on Thursday October 9 issued a restraining order on parties involved in the Ezeship dispute in Ngwoma Obube Community from presenting themselves to the Executive Governor of Imo State for recognition as the Eze of the autonomous community.
The court, presided over by Hon Justice L.C Alinnor, made this order pending the determination of the suit.
Mr Chinedu Ekeocha, the plaintiff, had sought to restrain Crown Prince Kemakolam Onukogu from being recognised as the traditional ruler based on a purported selection process.
However, the court ordered that both parties should maintain the status quo and neither should parade themselves as the traditional ruler.
The court also restrained the Executive Governor from according recognition to either party and adjourned for accelerated hearing.
The development has stopped Mr Chinedu Ekeocha from laying claim to the throne as the court also restrained him from holding himself out as the Eze of Ngwoma Obube Autonomous Community.
