Barr Nicholas Elechi Bags Onwa Naetiri Oha I Of Ohaji Chieftaincy Title
On Monday, 29th December 2025, the historic palace of the Traditional Ruler of the Mgbirichi/Abakuru Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty, Eze A. R. Ikegwuruka (Ezeahurukwe II), became a vibrant centre of royalty, culture, and prestige as the esteemed monarch formally bestowed the chieftaincy title “ONWA NA ETIRI OHA 1 OF OHAJI” upon Chief Barrister Nicholas Elechi, a distinguished son of Abakuru and Ohaji-Egbema at large.
The vibrant ceremony, which attracted eminent dignitaries from across Ohaji-Egbema and Imo State, marked a significant recognition of a man whose generosity, integrity, and dedication to community development have become exemplary in the region.
Speaking shortly after his investiture, the ONWA NA ETIRI OHA I OF OHAJI, remarked that the honour was both a privilege and a divine obligation.
He commended HRM Eze Ikegwuruka as a principled monarch endowed with the rare courage to uphold justice and equity.
“When God intends to bless a people, He provides them with a traditional ruler who possesses the capacity and the heart to uphold justice,” Elechi stated.
He conveyed profound gratitude to the people of Mgbirichi and Abakuru for their steadfast love and support, assuring them of his unwavering commitment.
He disclosed that his selection for the esteemed title was founded on his culture of generosity, which he views as a personal covenant with God.
The legal expert remarked that the chieftaincy honour has further motivated him to enhance his contributions to community growth, emphasizing that even his discreet efforts have not gone unnoticed.
He pledged to align with the developmental initiatives of the traditional ruler to ensure accelerated progress throughout the kingdom. He also urged the people of Ohaji-Egbema to refrain from actions that could tarnish the area’s reputation, emphasizing that security should be regarded as a collective responsibility.
In his royal address, HRM Eze Ikegwuruka described ONWA NA ETIRI OHA I OF OHAJI, Chief Barrister Nicholas Elechi, as an exceptional and commendable son of Ohaji-Egbema whose philanthropic efforts and developmental achievements have positively influenced Mgbirichi, Abakuru, and the broader Ohaji-Egbema community.
