IHP Opposes Adoption Of APC As Exclusive Platform For Imo Govemor

The Imo Harmony Project (IHP), a political pressure group, has voiced its opposition to the purported endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the sole political party for the selection of a governor from the Owerri Zone in 2027.

In a formal statement, the IHP contested the assertion made by Owerri Zone United that the election of a governor from the zone could only be achieved through the APC.

The IHP emphasized that its foundational philosophy is based on non-partisanship, which is why it comprises members from various political parties, all united in the objective of electing a governor from the Owerri Zone.

To preserve its neutrality, the IHP’s operations and activities are financed through contributions from its members, who represent a diverse array of political affiliations as well as non-partisan individuals.

The IHP further clarified that when the initiative to consolidate groups advocating for a governor from the Owerri Zone was proposed, it was explicitly stated that Owerri Zone United must uphold a non-partisan stance.

The group noted that its members ratified this principle of engagement prior to its affiliation, a decision that was communicated to other groups within the zone.

The IHP asserted that it would constitute a breach of trust to acquiesce to an arrangement that seeks to limit the legitimate aspirations of Owerri Zone indigenes who are not affiliated with the APC.

It deemed the utilization of Owerri Zone United to advance a clearly partisan agenda as unacceptable.
