Bandits Kill Ex-Councillor’s Sister In Imo
A tragic incident occurred in the Eziobodo Community, located within the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, on Friday, October 9, when the lifeless body of a female resident was discovered in a nearby bush.
Community leaders have identified the deceased as Miss Kasarachi Ajokubi, a moi-moi vendor and sister of former councillor Chijioke Echendu, who previously represented the Eziobodo/Eziokele Ward.
The identities of those responsible for this heinous act, as well as the motives behind it, remain unclear.
This incident has intensified concerns regarding the security situation in Eziobodo and neighboring areas, including Ihiagwa, Irete, and Nekede, where residents have voiced ongoing fears about reported security threats.
According to information accompanying a video that has circulated on social media, the deceased was found in a bush near the Umuada Waterside area of Eziobodo Community.
Her remains reportedly exhibited signs of swelling and decomposition, indicating that she may have been deceased for several hours.
Voices captured in the viral footage have accused suspected armed herders, allegedly operating within the surrounding forests and bushes, of being responsible for the murder.
When reached for comment, the former councillor expressed profound grief over his sister’s death and indicated that the family was transporting her body to the mortuary.
Echendu stated, “They just killed my sister; we are currently taking her lifeless body to the morgue. I will provide further updates soon.”
As of the time of this report, the Imo State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
