Family Pays N10m Ransom To Secure Release Of Kidnapped Son

An abducted indigene of Imo State, Wisdom Nwauwa, regained his freedom on Saturday, June 13 following the payment of a N10 million ransom by his family.

His release occurred after enduring three nights in captivity within a forest in the Amakohia-Ubi Community, located in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.

Nwauwa, who was abducted on the Ogbaku-Izombe road on Wednesday, June 10 recounted that he was traveling with two of his siblings when gunfire erupted, prompting their driver to stop abruptly to assess the situation.

During an interview, Nwauwa explained that he exited the vehicle upon realizing that Fulani bandits had surrounded them and attempted to escape, unaware that the adjacent bush was occupied by the bandits.

He stated that other members of the gang apprehended him while his two brothers managed to escape in the car.

He reported encountering ten other individuals who had also been kidnapped by the bandits at the camp where he was held.

Nwauwa further revealed that the Fulani bandits perpetrate heinous acts, including the sexual assault of their female captives.

He reported that he was subjected to severe torture by the bandits, who bound his hands and inflicted injuries upon them.

Furthermore, Nwauwa revealed an incident involving a woman who, along with her two children, was abducted. Her family paid a ransom of N6 million to secure their release.

Upon his release, Nwauwa expressed astonishment that the forest had been overtaken by armed Fulani bandits.

He recounted that during his three-day captivity, the bandits persistently relocated them within the forest, transferring them to different units to ensure they never spent an entire day in a single unit.
