Court Bars Ex-Lawmaker, Alagbaoso From Parading As Monarch

A High Court in Orlu, Imo State has issued an order preventing former federal lawmaker Chief Jerry Alagbaoso from presenting himself as the Traditional Ruler of Ama-na-ogu Autonomous Community.

The ruling, delivered by Justice M.C. Ijezie, also instructs the Chairman of Orsu Local Government Area and the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs not to submit Chief Alagbaoso’s name to the state Governor for recognition as the traditional ruler of Ama-na-ogu Autonomous Community.

This decision follows the consideration of an ex parte motion for an interim injunction, dated September 29, 2026, which was filed on the same day and supported by a 25-paragraph affidavit of urgency, along with a legal brief from the plaintiff’s counsel, Chief C.O.C. Akaolisa (SAN).

The court’s order states: “An interim injunction is hereby granted, restraining the 4th and 5th Defendants/Respondents (the Chairman of Orsu LGA and the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs) from presenting the 1st Respondent (Chief Jerry Alagbaoso) to the 6th Respondent/Defendant (Governor) for recognition as Eze of Ama-Na-Ogu Autonomous Community in Orsu LGA of Imo State, pending the hearing of the motion on notice for an Order of Interlocutory Injunction.”

Additionally, the court prohibited the 1st Defendant/Respondent (Chief Jerry Alagbaoso) from presenting himself or appearing in any capacity as the Eze-Elect of Ama-na-ogu Community until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction.
