CARSPO 2026: Police Beef Up Security In Imo
In anticipation of the two-day Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) 2026, scheduled to take place from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre in Owerri, Imo State, security measures have been significantly intensified.
A statement released by the spokesperson for the state police command, Henry Okoye, indicated that the conference, themed “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” is expected to draw senior police officers, esteemed dignitaries, strategic managers of the Nigeria Police Force, and other participants from across the nation.
Okoye further noted that attendees will engage in discussions on critical issues concerning security, public safety, and the effective management of security during elections.
He reported that police personnel have been deployed to the conference venue, designated hotels, major thoroughfares, and other strategic locations throughout the state, including routes to the airport.
Additionally, he stated, “Personnel have been instructed to maintain professionalism, uphold the rule of law, and respect the rights of citizens.
“Police traffic wardens have also been assigned to key locations to regulate traffic and ensure the smooth flow of movement. Motorists and residents are encouraged to cooperate with personnel on duty and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans as required.
“The command extends a warm welcome to all dignitaries, strategic managers, and participants visiting Imo State and assures both residents and visitors of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the duration of the event.
“Furthermore, the Command cautions individuals with criminal intent and those seeking to cause disruptions to avoid the venue, designated hotels, and other strategic locations, assuring that any person found engaging in unlawful activities will face legal consequences.”
