Visually-Impaired Imo Indigene Seeks Assistance

Eze Emmanuel Uchenna, a visually impaired individual and indigene of the Oziome Mbieri Community in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, is appealing for support from compassionate members of the public to assist with his living expenses.

At 54 years of age and a holder of a Master’s Degree, Eze Emmanuel has faced significant challenges in life, prompting his request for aid.

He was afflicted by poliomyelitis at the age of two, resulting in his physical disability following an injection administered by an auxiliary nurse. Additionally, a mysterious object struck his eye while he was seated in his living room watching television, leading to his blindness over the past 14 years.

In a video shared by the Stand for Humanity Foundation on Facebook, Uchenna disclosed that he is scheduled for eye surgery in Kaduna, as previous attempts at the Imo Specialist Hospital and a facility in Calabar were unsuccessful in restoring his vision.

He further explained that the hospital in Calabar diagnosed him with retinal detachment, which has caused permanent damage to his right eye. According to medical professionals, surgery on his left eye presents a 50% chance of success.
