2027: Amadi Decries Attack On APP Secretariat In Imo

Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, the Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial Candidate for the Action People’s Party (APP), has expressed strong condemnation regarding the targeted destruction of facilities belonging to opposition political parties in Imo State, particularly those associated with the APP.

Dr. Amadi characterized this troubling development as a significant affront to democratic values, political tolerance, and the peaceful engagement of citizens in the electoral process.

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, residents of Imo State were alarmed to learn of the vandalization of APP facilities at the Iwuanyanwu Glass House State Secretariat.

In a formal statement, Dr. Amadi asserted that the destruction of official party signage and other political infrastructure is not an isolated occurrence but rather part of a deliberate strategy of intimidation aimed at suppressing opposition voices and constricting the democratic space in advance of the 2027 general elections.

He described the incident as an assault not only on the Action People’s Party but also on the foundational principles of democracy.

Dr. Amadi emphasized that democracy flourishes when political parties are permitted to seek support freely, citizens can exercise their rights without fear, and elections are contested based on ideas, vision, and performance rather than through intimidation and violence.
